Key players escape scrutiny after investigation into the UK’s role in rendition and torture is halted

The government has prematurely halted a major investigation into the UK’s role in extraordinary rendition and torture.

British Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) has published two reports, resulting from the investigation: Detainee Mistreatment and Rendition: 2001 – 2010 [pdf] and Detainee Mistreatment and Rendition: Current Issues [pdf].

But further investigations were suspended after the committee was denied access to certain ‘officers’.
