Blacklisting the blacklisters: the evidence revisited (subscribers, key players, finances, etc)

12570

The alleged architect of the construction ‘blacklisting’ scandal, Cullum McAlpine, who has been described as the mastermind behind the construction ‘blacklisting’ scandal that hit headlines over the past two years, has refused to give evidence in the High Court case due to start May 11th to establish the extent of wrongdoing in the industry. Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd, the company headed by Cullum McAlpine, is accused of defamation, breaches of the 1988 Data Protection Act, conspiracy and misuse of private information. The outcome of the trial will determine the level of compensation that will be awarded to victims of ‘blacklisting’.  Altogether around 30 construction firms are involved in the litigation. The trade union Unite pledged to challenge Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd every time that company tenders for public procurement contracts unless Cullum McAlpine gives evidence at the court. In the meantime, here is a reminder of some of the evidence already available and which the court will no doubt be considering as part of its deliberations…

(Note: For more on blacklisting – its history and how it works today, see: Blacklisting, a book by Dave Smith and Phil Chamberlain, Spies at Work, by Mike Hughes and The construction industry blacklist: how the Economic League lived on, by Phil Chamberlain. See also Appendix, below.)

Here is a list of all companies (incomplete) that subscribed to the blacklisting organisation, The Economic League.

Here are the blacklist evidence submissions and testimonies to the House of Commons Scottish Select Committee.

Below are the various documents related to The Consulting Association (C.A), the company that succeeded The Economic League and which was submitted as information by Ian Kerr, for the Scottish Affairs Committee inquiry into Blacklisting in Employment.
