Seasonal greetings from the Kurd frontline offensive against ISIS

The latest reports from the frontline offensive by the Kurd-led Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) against ISIS is given below, with updates from December 24 and 25. The above video footage takes a look at the actions conducted by joint QSD units on the second day of the new offensive. On that day, December 24, the QSD managed to liberate 5 villages and more than 10 farmlands along the banks of the Euphrates. (Also: video report on YPJ (women’s militias) at end of article.)

Update 1:

KOBANE, ROJAVA, Syria (December 25, 2015) – Following the second round of military campaign led by the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) against the terrorist group known as Daesh (ISIS) in rural district to the south of Kobane region, combined military units from the QSD continued to operate multiple hideouts of the terrorists near the Euphrates River.

The following is a summary of actions engaged as part of operations in the past 24 hours:

Pressing towards south along the banks of river on December 24, joint QSD units were able to liberate the villages of Bojakh, Hafyan, Munsiye, Sofayte, Saqit, Dahr AlFaraj and surrounding farmlands across the region.

On the night of December 24, a unit of the Daesh terrorists was preparing for instantaneous attacks in place near the host of the cited extent. The QSD combatants who had learned about the plot started to target hostile movements in the area where heavy clashes were erupted. There, a dozens of enemy forces were killed, bodies of 7 were seized on the field, also a weapons cache of the enemy including 1 RPG rocket launcher, 1 PK machine gun, 13 AK rifles as well as 4 improvised explosive devices was captured.

Cooperating in the context of a new focus, combined Kurdish, Arab and Assyrian Christian units from the Syrian Democratic Forces, since December 23, have been able to clear 16 kilometers of Daesh-occupied territory along the Euphrates, this advance is continuing in effect.

Update 2:

SOUTH KOBANE, ROJAVA, Syria (December 24, 2015) – Following the beginning of the second round of military campaign led by the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD) against the terrorist group Daesh (ISIS) in rural district to the south of Kobane region, combined military units from the QSD managed last night, December 23, to launch and successfully conduct their first mission.

The following is a summary of actions engaged as part of the operations in the past 24 hours:

In south of the town Sarrin, southern Kobane, Rojava, Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces were able to push terrorist elements further towards south where they fully liberated the villages of Sahrij, Al Jabal, Abaydad, Al Mansia, Miruha, Sajjadi, Dandoshan, Birdan and over fifteen farmlands. At the noted locations, a number of the Daesh units were targeted and neutralized as 14 terrorist fighters were confirmed killed. In those villages a weapons cache of the enemy forces including 1 DShK 12.5 heavy machine gun, 1 RPG rocket launcher, 1 PKM and 10 AK rifles was seized by the QSD units.

It was during this operation that two combatants of the Syrian Democratic Forces who strongly participated in the operation, fought well against terrorists and were martyred on the fields of the battle.
